Cardinal BSC 501(c)(3) Charity Charter

Supporting Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character Nationwide

Introduction

Cardinal BSC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established to benefit multi-charities that embody the core values of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character. Our mission is rooted in the cardinal  principles taught to us as brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa: By these things we stand.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to support and advance the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character through targeted charitable initiatives. We believe in fostering lifelong bonds, academic excellence, and personal integrity among our members and the broader community.

Commitment to Phi Sigma Kappa Values

Cardinal BSC is founded upon the principles that unite Phi Sigma Kappa brothers nationwide. Our dedication to Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character guides every decision and action. Through our charitable work, we strive to honor the legacy and teachings of our fraternity, ensuring that these values continue to positively impact lives for generations to come.

Advisor Board

  • The Advisor Board consists of seven Phi Sigma Kappa brothers from across the nation.
  • Each member serves a two-year term, with a maximum of three consecutive terms allowed, except for the Charity President/Director, who is exempt from term limits.

Divisional Directors

  • There are three Divisional Directors, each responsible for one branch of the charity: Brotherhood, Scholarship, or Character.
  • Directors oversee the operations, outreach, and impact of their respective charitable initiatives.

Fund Allocation and Management

All funds donated to Cardinal BSC will be divided equally among the three supported charities: Feed the Fridge, Half a Sorrow, and the the 3 funds listed the Scholarship section on this document. This equal distribution will occur after deducting necessary operating expenses and any honorariums for members of the Advisory Board. The organization is committed to transparency and responsible stewardship of all donations.

Charitable Divisions

Charitable Giving Framework

Cardinal BSC proudly supports three primary charitable initiatives, each overseen by a dedicated Divisional Director to ensure focused impact and accountability.

Donor-Directed Contributions: Individual contributors may request that their donations be allocated to one or more specific charitable initiatives. These preferences are honored to ensure donor intent is respected and impact is maximized.

This flexible model allows Cardinal BSC to remain responsive to both organizational goals and the philanthropic interests of its supporters. If a donor does not specify a particular charity, the donation will be equally divided among the three divisions of the organization

Brotherhood: Supporting “Feed the Fridge,” a charity focused on fighting hunger and providing nourishment to communities in need.

Character: Supporting “Half a Sorrow,” a charity dedicated to mental health awareness and support.

 Scholarship

The Scholarship Fund will be allocated equally across three impactful initiatives:

Pop Cassell Scholarship Fund:

One-third of the total will be directed to the Pop Cassell Scholarship Fund, supporting national-level academic excellence and honoring a legacy of leadership within Phi Sigma Kappa.

Phi Sigma Kappa Inc. General Fund

Another third will be donated to the General Fund of Phi Sigma Kappa Inc., which provides financial assistance to deserving students across the fraternity’s broader network.

Epsilon Triton Chapter Educational Foundation (CEF)

The final third will support the Epsilon Triton CEF, dedicated to cultivating future leaders from the Epsilon Triton Chapter and advancing educational opportunities within our local brotherhood.

By these things we stand.
